Televisa stands as the powerhouse of Mexico’s television broadcasting, reigning supreme in the realm of entertainment and information.

The Year:

2020 and 2021

The Task:

Bringing Catalina la Catrina back to the small screen for the 2020 and 2021 specials, with a fresh and updated look.

The Solution:

For these two years, we collaborated with Televisa and Ikartoons to revamp Catalina la Catrina, which was also featured in the special episode dedicated to the Day of the Dead.

This collaboration resulted in a rejuvenated and visually striking portrayal of Catalina, breathing new life into the character for the audience’s enjoyment. The revamped image played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall experience of the special episode, particularly in celebrating the rich cultural traditions of the Day of the Dead.

The Puppets:

For the very first time, Granujo made an appearance as an interactive character, adding a dynamic element to the experience.

The utilization of state-of-the-art puppetry techniques ensured that Catalina and Chilaquil’s new designs were seamlessly integrated into the performances, creating a visually stunning and unforgettable viewing experience. Furthermore, the introduction of Granujo as an interactive character marked a significant milestone in the evolution of the show, opening up new avenues for audience interaction and participation.

Sets:

Over these two years, we undertook a redesign of Catalina’s office background, positioning her at the center and facing directly towards the viewer. This update aligns with the current trend popularized by VTubers.

Additionally, we crafted a stage and desk for Granujo, enabling him to engage with the children during the segments.

Lastly, we designed and implemented the roulette stage to determine which “host” would interact in the next segment.”

Scripts and Storyboards:

In recent years, we collaborated closely with Televisa on the scripts and storyboards. Thanks to our long-standing partnership, our joint efforts have streamlined the process, making it both well-defined and efficient.

This collaborative process entails thorough review and feedback from Televisa, combined with our creative input. The end result is a captivating narrative that leaves children eagerly anticipating Catalina’s next adventure each year.
