The Client:

Personal Onem Project.

The Year:

2016

The Task:

To create a very light app no more than 4 mb using only code, SVGS and CSS3 animations.

The Solution:

We’ve conducted hands-on testing of this application with both him and other children, focusing on refining the UI/UX to incorporate age-appropriate touch gestures. My approach is influenced by the latest educational methodologies, drawing from the insights provided by the NAEYC/FRC Position Statement on Technology and Interactive Media, as well as the Fred Rogers Center Framework for Quality in Children’s Digital Media.

The Concept:

Motivated by Onem’s enthusiastic 3-year-old nephew and his passion for dinosaurs, Dinobaby is primarily designed to engage preschoolers in an enjoyable learning experience about fundamental dinosaur facts.

The App:

In Dinobaby, preschoolers embark on an exciting adventure, exploring the enchanting world of dinosaurs.

Through interactive games, vibrant visuals, and engaging storytelling, they discover a wealth of fascinating facts about these ancient creatures.

The app strikes the perfect balance between entertainment and education, making learning a thrilling and memorable experience for young minds.

Characters:

Dinobaby features a diverse cast of dinosaurs, each brought to life with vivid illustrations and engaging narratives. From the towering Tyrannosaurus Rex, known for its fearsome presence, to the gentle giant Brachiosaurus, who roamed ancient forests, children will encounter a variety of prehistoric creatures. They’ll also meet the cunning Velociraptor, the horned Triceratops, and the armor-plated Stegosaurus, among others. With each encounter, preschoolers gain a deeper understanding of these magnificent creatures that once ruled the Earth.

UI and UX:

The UI/UX of Dinobaby is thoughtfully designed to be intuitive and engaging for preschoolers. The interface is characterized by vibrant colors, playful icons, and easily navigable menus, ensuring a seamless and delightful user experience. Age-appropriate touch gestures are incorporated to allow even the youngest learners to interact effortlessly with the app.

Assets:

The assets in Dinobaby are a treasure trove of captivating visuals and interactive elements, carefully curated to enhance the learning experience for preschoolers. Richly detailed illustrations bring each dinosaur to life, allowing children to explore their features and characteristics in vivid detail.

Engaging animations and interactive components further immerse young learners in the prehistoric world, fostering a deeper connection with the subject matter. Thoughtfully selected sound effects and background music create an auditory landscape that complements the visual experience, adding an extra layer of excitement.
